UDA Candidate Snubs Debate For Mbeere North Contenders

On November 23, 2025, a local television station hosted a debate between candidates for the Mbeere North by-election, which Leo Wa Muthende, the Mbeere North UDA candidate, abstained from.

The UDA candidate instead conducted a town hall meeting with teenagers from Mbeere North constituency as his opponents participated in the discussion.

The United Opposition candidate Newton Karish, who is vying under the Democratic Party, attended the aspirants’ debate where he defended his agenda for Mbeere North constituency.

Additionally, Wa Muthende used the town hall gathering to inform the attendees of his proposal for Mbeere North.

Wa Muthende also presented awards to the champions of the Leo Super Cup, a football tournament that the UDA candidate hosted on November 23, 2025, during the town hall meeting.

Duncan Mbui, a candidate for Chama Cha Kazi, did not attend the discussion at the local TV station.

Seven contestants in all showed up for the discussion between the Mbeere North contenders.

Lawrence Ireri Mwaniki, Albert Murimi, Isaac Murigingi, Simon Waiharo, Reuben Kamathai, and Newton Karish were among them.
