Democracy for the Citizens Party’s (DCP) candidate, David Wanyoike Warui, won the Kariobangi North Ward representative seat, marking another significant achievement.

According to official results presented at the tallying center by IEBC, Warui secured 2,282 votes. Kimanzi John Katua, an independent candidate, took second place with 1,956 votes.

Michael Ouma Majua of ODM finished third with 1,351 votes, followed by Njoka Julius Maina (UDA) with 955 votes. Peter Kariuki of Kanu received 220 votes.

In his victory speech, the MCA-elect maintained a conciliatory tone and extended an olive branch to his opponents.

“Politics is not enmity; life must continue. I ask my rivals to come and let us work together,” he told supporters shortly after he was declared the winner.

The Kariobangi North seat became vacant after the death of former MCA Joel Munuve.

Meanwhile, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) gained its first electoral success when its candidate, Aduda Okwiri, won the Kisa East Ward byelection.

The victory represents a watershed moment for the nascent political party. Okwiri won with 1,952 votes, with MDG’s Joel Ongoro coming in second with 1,541.

The seat became vacant after the killing of former MCA Stephen Maloba, who was ambushed and killed by unknown individuals last year.

The victory gives DCP a fresh boost in Nairobi politics, following recent gains, and positions the party as a potential contender ahead of the 2027 General Election.
