DCI Officer Fatally Stabbed, Youth Shot Dead in Trans Nzoia
A DCI officer from Kitale was killed after being stabbed in an incident in which a gang attempted to rescue a suspect that detectives were seeking to apprehend.
In addition, one young person was killed in the shooting.
Josephat Ndung’u, the Trans Nzoia County Criminal Investigation Officer, verified the event and claimed that investigations are currently underway to ascertain the reason and circumstances behind the attack.
So far, only one person has been apprehended in connection with the event.
According to accounts, the investigator was slain in the Matisi area while accompanying colleagues to arrest a murder suspect.
Authorities are investigating how the attack developed and whether additional suspects were involved in its preparation and execution.

Nonetheless, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), which plays an important role in probing attacks on police personnel, has yet to release a report on the incident.
When such attacks occur, IPOA conducts an impartial investigation to determine whether police error or wrongdoing contributed to the occurrence.
DCI officers Attacked In Kasipul
Just last month, on November 12, three DCI officers sustained significant injuries.
This came after a violent battle with armed intruders in Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County, during the recent byelection campaign.
According to the police, the incident occurred during a security operation to apprehend suspects linked to the killing of two youths in the Opondo area.

Reports indicate that the officers included the Rachuonyo South Sub-County DCI boss, Daniel Muhuhi.
They were ambushed while attempting to arrest the suspects at the homestead of the late former Kasipul MP, Ong’ondo Were, in Kachien Village.
The officers are said to have met the ordeal while tracing the suspects to Kosele Trading Centre following intelligence reports.
Still, the group fled and sought refuge at the late MP’s homestead, where they launched the attack on the sleuths.
