Gladys Wanga, the governor of Homa Bay, has joined party members in a fundraising drive to help with the burial arrangements for Cyrus Jirongo, the late former Lugari Member of Parliament.

Wanga, speaking on Sunday, December 21, at the residence of the late former YK’92 top leader, stated that the ODM leadership had already given bulls and fish to be used as vegetables at Jirongo’s funeral.

She also stated that the party would contribute funds to purchase ugali, which would be served with the food they had provided.

“Najua tumekuja na mboga, lakini lazima mboga ikulwe na ugali. Nataka kuwaambia hawa viongozi watoe ugali,” Wanga said, prompting leaders present to contribute.

The monies were officially received by Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, while Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi kicked off the fundraising with a Ksh100,000 gift.

He was followed by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, who contributed Ksh200,000.
