“He’s Yet To Heal!” – Ichung’wah Blasts Uhuru Kenyatta Over Active Politics

Kimani Ichung’wah, the majority leader in the National Assembly, has sparked further controversy by sharply criticizing former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s persistent involvement in Kenya’s everyday political activities.

In a tell-all interview with NTV on Tuesday, December 31, 2025, Ichung’wah questioned Uhuru’s progress since the 2022 general election results.

The Kikuyu MP charged the former Head of State with failing to accept his role as an older statesman.

Ichung’wah claims that, rather than focusing elsewhere, Uhuru continues to undermine President William Ruto’s government.

“Unfortunately, when I look at President Uhuru Kenyatta, I see a man who is yet to heal from the loss of the 2022 general elections,” Ichung’wah stated.

He suggested that Uhuru took his political war with Ruto too personally.

The Majority Leader believes the former president will never accept that his Deputy, whom he campaigned against, ultimately won the presidency.

Ichung’wah gave what he called “unsolicited advice” to Kenya’s fourth president.

He asked Uhuru to adopt the role of a father figure, like the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who elevated himself to pan-African statesman status.

“When you have had the honor to serve as president of a country for 10 years and you retire, that elevates you to a certain level of statesman,” Ichung’wah explained.

He cautioned that continued involvement in day-to-day politics undermines that stature.

The Majority Leader disclosed that he spoke with President Ruto about reaching out to Uhuru for national unity, citing the necessity for heavy lifting to bring the country forward.

However, Ichung’wah’s harshest evaluation came in the conclusion.

“When I look at my good friend, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, he looks like a person who tends to overwork to bring others down so that he remains the greatest of all times,” he stated.

Since leaving office in 2022, Uhuru has remained active through his leadership of the Jubilee Party and support for opposition coalitions.

He frequently comments on governance issues and maintains regional mediation roles across Africa.

Ichung’wah concluded, urging Uhuru to see the country as bigger than himself or Ruto for the sake of all Kenyans.
