MP Wamuchomba Blasts Gachagua, Allies Over Intimidation And Coercion
Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of intimidation and political compulsion.
On Monday, January 5, Wamuchomba accused Gachagua of repeatedly harassing and coercing her into leaving the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joining the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
“Now Wamunyoro is attempting to intimidate me through coercion and constant assaults to join DCP. I need to lay bare facts for him,” Wamochumba wrote on her X account.
According to the lawmaker, the former DP allegedly utilized some of his key allies to threaten a group of Mt Kenya MPs who refused to join the opposition.

When he was Dp he did the same to itimidate me when i voted NO for finance bill 2023. God Deflated him painfully.
He “started” a party which he claims is a “mlima” party…
MP Wamuchomba accused Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa of acting as proxies to exert pressure and intimidation on pro-government leaders in the Mt Kenya region.
“He is using Senator Karungo to demean those not in the ‘Mlima’ party. Karungo is still a UDA senator screaming about another party,” she commented.
“If this party is really strong, why can’t Methu, Karungo and Nyutu resign first, then we elect them through their new masikio party? I’m not joining that party, and I’m in UDA until 2027,” Wamuchomba added.
In her statement, the legislator stated that this was not the first time she had received similar threats from Gachagua, and that she faced a similar situation in 2023 after voting against the Finance Bill.
Meanwhile, Wamuchomba, who was previously a staunch admirer of Gachagua, has become one of his most vocal adversaries, accusing him of a number of wrongdoings.

Their feud began in the middle of last year, when the MP accused the DCP head of allegedly aiming to monopolize the Mt Kenya region’s political direction.
The difference became apparent when the Githunguri MP neglected to attend Gachagua’s party launch in May of last year.
Her absence generated concerns about a possible misunderstanding.
Wamuchomba had on several occasions challenged Gachagua to broaden his focus beyond the Mt Kenya region and rally support from Kenyans in other regions.
