“Gachagua Has No Moral Authority!” – Murkomen Says Over Two CSs Implicated In Drug Trafficking
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has denied reports that two Cabinet Secretaries are participating in an alleged drug trafficking operation, despite the government’s efforts to combat the drug problem in the country.
This comes after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said that two CSs in President William Ruto’s cabinet were active participants in drug networks.
In an interview last October, the former Deputy President accused the government of lacking commitment to combat drug misuse.
He claimed that President William Ruto’s reported nomination of two Cabinet Secretaries with ties to drug trafficking reflected a failure to take the fight seriously.
“Drug and substance abuse are back in the country. I knew a long time ago that the government was not committed to ending this drug abuse menace in this region,” Gachagua stated.
He further stated that, despite the allegations, the President appointed two Cabinet Secretaries whom he accused of complicity in drug trafficking.
Gachagua claimed that having “two drug barons” in the Cabinet under William Ruto set Kenya apart from other countries.
However, in reaction to Gachagua’s charges, CS Murkomen denied them, calling them politically motivated and lacking any factual basis.

Murkomen stated in an interview with Citizen TV on Monday, January 12, that all CSs were subjected to rigorous vetting procedures before taking office.
“There is a clear and thorough process of vetting all public servants, including Cabinet Secretaries,” he said.
“If there had been even an iota of proof supporting such allegations, none of us would be holding public office today.”
He said that Gachagua lacked moral legitimacy to teach Kenyans about drug and alcohol usage, given Gachagua’s terrible record as DP.
According to Murkomen, Gachagua’s frequent public rants were an attempt to mask incompetence.
He alleged that during their time together in Cabinet, the former DP demonstrated little understanding of government operations.
“When it comes to the discussion on drugs and alcohol abuse, the last person who should give us a lecture is the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua because his record is known to be dismal,” Murkomen revealed.

Everything he did while in office was to extort money from companies selling alcohol. I have never seen a more incompetent public… pic.twitter.com/lFPg5Q4Qf7

“The worst part of him is that I had never seen a more incompetent public servant who understood no single subject in government operations,” he added.
“The reason you see the former Deputy President ranting all the time is that he is trying to cover his incompetence.”
During the interview, Murkomen cautioned leaders against making unsubstantiated accusations.
The CS warned that such remarks risked undermining public trust in the government and its efforts to fight drug abuse.
