NYERI: Tragedy As School Van Overturns Injuring Students
On Saturday morning, a Mahehe Friends Academy school vehicle was engaged in a serious collision on Charity Road in Endarasha, Kieni West, Nyeri County, while bringing students to school. Several students are expected to be hospitalized.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll and land in a ditch, injuring a large number of students.
More than six ambulances, rescue personnel, and local citizens rushed to the scene to help the injured.
Pupils were soon evacuated to Endarasha Health Centre for treatment, and the Kenya Red Cross confirmed the occurrence, stating that the school bus went off the road and overturned.

Images and videos shared online showed the van twisted, with the front heavily damaged, the windshield smashed, and the passenger seats displaced within the debris.

Authorities and emergency response teams have arrived at the location and are now organizing rescue efforts to secure the safety of individuals involved.
At the time of writing, it was unclear how many students had been injured.

In September 2024, 21 students perished and numerous others were seriously injured in a dormitory fire at Hillside Academy in Endarasha, Nyeri County.
The fire broke out in the early hours, while many pupils were sleeping.
Several students were trapped inside before firemen and emergency services arrived, with rescue operations delayed by the severity of the fire.
Despite these efforts, many pupils could not escape the rapidly spreading fire. Several were burnt beyond recognition, forcing authorities to rely on DNA testing to confirm their identities.
