NYS Announces Nationwide Recruitment Drive For Young Kenyans

The National Youth Service (NYS) has officially launched its recruitment exercise targeting young Kenyans across all sub-counties.

In a notice on Monday, March 16, the service confirmed that the exercise will run from Monday, March 16, to Saturday, March 21.

Interested youths have been encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity and visit designated recruitment centres in their respective sub-counties.

The National Youth Service (NYS), nationwide recruitment exercise, has officially kicked off today across all sub-counties, as earlier advertised. The exercise will run from 16th to 21st March 2026,” the statement read.

Eligible young Kenyans are encouraged to turn up in large numbers at their respective sub-county recruitment centres and take advantage of this opportunity to serve the nation while gaining valuable skills, discipline, and training,” the statement added.

NYS is a state corporation focused on training and empowering youth through paramilitary, national service, and vocational training.

Through its programmes, the service equips recruits with technical and vocational skills in areas such as construction, agriculture, mechanical works, and community development.

The agency also deploys trained youth to participate in national development projects, disaster response, environmental conservation, and public infrastructure works.

NYS had earlier announced a recruitment drive targeting both cadets and private officers for various roles. Over 700 vacancies were announced by the agency.

In a notice on Tuesday, March 3, the agency said that a total of 250 cadet officer positions and 500 private posts are up for grabs, an opportunity for jobless Kenyans to gain skills and formal employment.

Drivers, plant operators, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, band members, agricultural workers, secretaries, vehicle mechanics, welders, and general duty are among the private posts that were advertised.

Interested individuals were urged to download and complete the Application for Employment Form that is available on the Public Service Commission website.

Applications can be submitted through email or delivered by post to the NYS Commandant General at the National Youth Service Headquarters in Nairobi, with the deadline for submission of applications set for March 18, 2026.
