Gov’t Announces Dates For Disbursement Of Ksh25,000 NYOTA Balance
The Cooperatives Ministry has announced a new date for the disbursement of the second tranche of Ksh25,000 to youth beneficiaries under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) fund programme.
Speaking during an interview on TV47 on Tuesday, April 14, Cooperatives Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni confirmed that the second phase of the fund distribution will begin next week.
According to Mang’eni, the nationwide disbursement of the Ksh33 billion initiative will officially kick off on Monday, April 20, 2026 and will be conducted in several parts of the country at the same time.
“The second phase of the NYOTA fund distribution will start next week, beginning on Monday, April 20, and we will do it once across the country,” Mang’eni said.
“It will not be phased like the previous phase was conducted.”

The PS explained that the ministry is fully prepared for the exercise, noting that all selected youths have successfully completed their mentorship programmes.
She further noted that the government have also deployed development experts, who she said are ready to facilitate training sessions linked to the rollout of the second phase.
“We are very ready. We have prepared all our business development experts to be ready, and they have made arrangements where they will be conducting training,” she added.
Mang’eni revealed that by Sunday, April 19, all beneficiaries will have received notifications inviting them to participate in the second phase of the programme.
Additionally, the government is working to include applicants who missed out during the first phase, with the CS indicating that efforts are underway to ensure they are considered in the ongoing process.

“The President has seen that this is a working model and is seeking additional funding from our development partners to support those who did not benefit in the first phase,” she said.
NYOTA is a five-year transformative agenda by the government, funded by the World Bank. It aims to empower youth by addressing unemployment, income insecurity and limited savings.
Reports indicate that about 101,721 young Kenyans across the country benefited from the fund in the first nationwide rollout.
Under the fund, a youth receives Ksh22,000 in direct business support and Ksh3,000 in savings deposited under the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Haba Haba Scheme.
To boost the success rate of the programme, the county governments recently announced a two-year waiver on business licence fees for NYOTA beneficiaries.
