Grisly Accident Claims 7 Lives Along Narok-Mai Mahiu Road

A tragic road accident has reportedly claimed the lives of seven people who were travelling in a Toyota Voxy after a trailer reportedly lost its brakes along the Narok-Mahi Mahiu road at Duka Moja, about 30 kilometres from Narok town.

The crash, which occurred between Ntulele and Duka Moja, left all occupants of the Voxy dead on the spot.

Witnesses described the scene as devastating, with the trailer colliding into the vehicle with immense force.

Emergency responders have since arrived at the scene and are coordinating the rescue operations with images and videos published online, depicting the wreckage of the Voxy car, badly mangled.

As of the time of publishing, traffic along the stretch, long associated with past deadly accidents, had worsened, with the tail wreckage of the truck causing significant snarl-ups along the Narok-Duka Moja section.

Motorists using the route have been urged to exercise extreme caution, reduce speed when approaching the scene, and give recovery teams adequate space to carry out clearance operations in a bid for resumption of normalcy in the flow of traffic.

In December 2024, a total of eight people lost their lives following two separate crashes at the same location, involving six vehicles and a motorcycle.

The first incident occurred when the tyre of a trailer heading towards Mai Mahiu burst, causing it to lose control and collide with a Toyota Premio, a bus, and a matatu.

Three passengers in the matatu died as a result of the impact.
