
Ruto Fires Millicent Omanga, Makes A Raft Of Institutional Appointments
President William Ruto has unveiled a raft of high-level appointments and re-appointments across key state agencies and tribunals in a sweeping administrative overhaul published in the latest Kenya Gazette.
Among the notable changes are the dismissal of former nominated senator Millicent Omanga as a board member of the Kenya Shipyards Limited barely a year after she was appointed.
Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya announced the revocation of her appointment in the notice dated April 30, 2026.
She was appointed in January, 2025.

Exercising powers under the State Corporations Act and the Advocates Act, President Ruto re-appointed Moses Cheboi, Peter Nyaga and Mueni Kalola as Commissioners of the Advocates Complaints Commission for a three-year term starting April 30, 2026.
In a parallel move, Ngeny Biwott was re-appointed as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya National Accreditation Service board for another three-year term.
At the Ministry of Interior, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen effected a leadership shake-up at the Directorate of Registration of Persons.
Gilbert Benjamin Kitiyo was appointed Principal Registrar effective January 14, 2026, replacing Christopher Wanjau, whose appointment was revoked.
The education sector also saw significant restructuring, with Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba making multiple appointments to National Polytechnic councils.
At Kisii National Polytechnic, Santino Ocharo Ratemo was named Non-Executive Chairperson, with Jackline Mumbi Gitundu joining as a council member.
Sharon Sabato and Marwa Stephen Muniko were re-appointed to continue serving on the board.
Sigalagala National Polytechnic received a new chairperson in Genevieve Atamba Mwayuli, alongside newly appointed member Victor Keraro Nyarangi, while Vitalis Wekesa Sikuku and Phoebe Mumbua Mutua retained their positions through re-appointment.
Ondongo Sylus Were was also re-appointed to the council of Kitale National Polytechnic.

In the regional development space, Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul re-appointed Nkaesha Naikuni and appointed William Larus to the board of the Ewaso Ng’iro South River Basin Development Authority for three-year terms.
The Judiciary also featured prominently in the Gazette notice, with Chief Justice Martha Koome announcing key tribunal appointments through the Judicial Service Commission.
Anne Nderu was appointed Chairperson of the Public Benefit Organisations Disputes Tribunal, while Carolyne Mboku will chair the HIV and AIDS Tribunal.
The administrative updates come amid fresh regulatory momentum in the betting sector, with Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku notifying the public of new frameworks under the Gambling Control Act, 2025.
