Ruto, SIX CSs Make A Barrage of Fresh State Appointments

President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi, Julius Ogamba, Hassan Joho, Lee Kinyanjui, Alice Wahome, and Beatrice Asikul have announced a number of new appointments at various institutions.

In a gazette notification dated Friday, May 22, President William Ruto appointed Ann Wambui Njuguna as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Uwezo Fund Oversight Board for another three-year term beginning Tuesday, May 26.

The Head of State also reappointed Patrick Maina Muriuki as Commissioner of the Advocates’ Complaints Commission for another three years.

This implies Wambui and Muriuki will remain in their seats for another three years before a new appointment is made.

In the same notice, Treasury CS John Mbadi re-appointed Simon Mbugua as Chairperson and Diberious Shikuku Wafula as a member of the Policyholders Compensation Fund Board for a three-year term.

Mbadi, in the same notice, revoked the appointment of Gabriel Kago Mukuha as a member of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Board, effective immediately.

Mukuha ceased to be a member of the board effective Friday, May 22, upon publication of the gazette.

The Ministry of Education dominated the latest appointments, with Education CS Julius Ogamba making major changes with fresh appointments and renewals across universities, TVET institutions, and education councils, just weeks after the advertisements.

Among those re-appointed were Karuti Kanyinga as Chairperson of the Universities Fund Board of Trustees and Naftali Omolo Ongati as Chairperson of the Maseno University Council.

Ogamba also appointed new members to several university councils and boards, including Conrad Keya, Fakira Kassim Sheik, Esther Sagini, Isaiah Kirukmet, and Jackline Akinyi Jacoyange to the University Fund Board of Trustees.

At Makueni University College, Peter Kiuluku was appointed Chairperson of the university council with several new council members, while Waswa Dick was appointed to the Machakos University Council.

Ogamba further re-appointed council members at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Meru University of Science and Technology, Laikipia University, and the University of Eldoret.

In the TVET sector, Gideon Murenga was appointed to the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council.

Also, Ahmed Issa and Josephat Karoki Mwaniki were appointed to the Kericho and Meru National Polytechnic councils, respectively.

Elsewhere, Lands CS Alice Wahome also appointed Weldon Maritim as Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Geographical Names, alongside several other members of the committee.

At the same time, Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui re-appointed three members to the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency Board.

East African Community and Regional Development CS Beatrice Askul appointed Engineer Michael Owino Ochieng to the Lake Basin Development Authority Board.

Meanwhile, Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho announced the appointment of members to the Community Development Agreement Committee between the Orwa Community in West Pokot and Sebit Investment Limited.

Most appointments and reappointments will run for three years from Friday, May 22, after which different ministries can make new appointments and reappointments.
