U.S. Lists 45 ‘Worst of Worst’ Kenyans For Immediate Deportation
President Donald Trump of the United States has upped the number of Kenyans identified for detention and deportation due to alleged immigration infractions from 15 to 45.
This represents a considerable increase in the number of nationals facing removal proceedings in the country.
According to data released by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the people are among a category of undocumented immigrants designated as priority cases for removal owing to criminal records.
The names appear in the ‘Worst of Worst’ database, which was developed in December of last year to track illegal immigrants arrested or convicted of crimes in all 50 states.
The online portal provides details, including mugshots, countries of origin, and the offences committed by those listed.

A review of the database shows that the 45 Kenyans have been linked to a wide range of serious crimes, including drug trafficking, armed robbery, homicide, assault, child molestation, and cruelty towards a child.
Other offences cited in the records include aggravated assault with a weapon, making terror-related threats, money laundering, cheque forgery, fraud, kidnapping of a minor, violation of court orders, and receiving stolen property.
Some of the individuals have also been accused or convicted of driving under the influence, domestic violence, robbery, and attempting to evade prosecution.

The DHS said the database is intended to enhance transparency and provide information on undocumented immigrants who have been arrested in recent months.
The latest increase in the number of Kenyans featured on the list comes amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on unlawful immigration, which has seen heightened inspections leading to arrests and detentions.
To accelerate the removal of undocumented immigrants, the U.S. government has also launched a self-deportation mobile application that allows individuals living illegally in the country to voluntarily depart before facing arrest or formal deportation proceedings.
The application is part of the U.S government’s immigration enforcement strategy aimed at reducing the number of undocumented immigrants in the country.
To encourage voluntary departures, the U.S. government introduced financial incentives of up to Ksh387,000 for eligible participants and pledged travel assistance to help undocumented immigrants return to their home countries.
