Ruto Appoints Kikuyu Gospel Artist As Advisor On Development Matters
President William Ruto has nominated gospel musician Paul Waiganjo as a Development Advisor.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano announced the appointment on Sunday, June 7, at a church ceremony in Ol-Kalou, Nyandarua County.
Miano announced at the service that Waiganjo will serve as the government’s development advisor within the president’s office.
โWaiganjo has a job. I hear someone asking me what job? Because I have his papers here, Waiganjo will be the advisor to the government on development issues across Kenya,โ Miano announced.
According to the CS, the gospel performer will perform at the president’s official residence, the State House.
The appointment comes just weeks after Waiganjo, who had been eyeing the Ol-Kalou parliamentary seat, left the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) to join the ruling United Democratic Alliance.
He joined the ruling party days after losing in the party primaries for DCP, headed by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
During the nominations ahead of the July 16 Ol-Kalou by-elections, Waiganjo lost to Sammy Kamau Ngotho, who was then handed the party nomination certificate.
Kamau won the DCP ticket in a landslide victory on Saturday, May 9, getting 12,957 votes in a hotly contested nomination.
The power of the people is unstoppable!! Thank you so much people of Rurii. The party is DCP and the person is Waiganjo.

He passed away at the age of 62 while undergoing cancer treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
After ditching plans to serve as a lawmaker, Waiganjo, a seasoned local gospel musician, then joined Ruto’s party and threw his support for UDA aspirant in the by-election, Samuel Muchina Nyaga.
