Caleb Amisi Announces Support For Maraga-Sifuna Ticket In 2027
Former Chief Justice David Maraga’s presidential aspirations have received backing from Saboti MP Caleb Amisi.
If he doesn’t run for president, Amisi proposed that Senator Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi be his running mate.
Amisi argued that Kenya needed a new generation of leaders capable of guiding the nation on a different path and demanded an end to tribal-based political formations during his “State of the Nation” speech on Tuesday.
“There is no going to special groupings. Don’t tell us to come and join you. Let them come and join us, all these tribal groupings,” Amisi said.

The lawmaker singled out Maraga as a potential presidential candidate and asked Kenyans and political leaders to support individuals who, in his opinion, can unite the nation beyond ethnic differences.
Amisi said Kenya must break away from its traditional political culture if it hopes to achieve different outcomes.
“They should all come and support people like Maraga. If Sifuna is not going to be a presidential candidate, the only person I will allow Sifuna to deputise is Maraga,” he said.
“We can’t keep on doing the same things the same way and expect different results.”
The MP also announced plans to launch a political outfit aimed at increasing youth participation in governance and elective politics.

“That is why I’m here. I will be launching the People’s Movement to enable young people to go to Parliament,” he said.
The former CJ has on several occasions pledged to restore systems he said have been weakened if elected president in 2027, including ensuring autonomy in sector management and improving service delivery.
“I am going to rescue this country from the destruction caused by the current administration. I will stop micromanaging and demand results from each sector,” he said.
He also pledged to uphold the rule of law and strictly adhere to the Constitution.
“Abiding by the Constitution will help seal corruption loopholes that cause Kenya to lose vast public funds,” he added.\
