Kameme FM Responds To Notice Of Temporary Closure
Social media rumors that Kameme FM and its web platforms may be temporarily closed to address compliance issues have been refuted.
The allegations started with a message purportedly from Mediamax, the station’s parent business, stating that Kameme FM and Kameme FM Online would be offline for 30 days beginning on June 18.
The well-known radio station disassociated itself from the message and emphasized that it did not come from the company in an advisory published on Wednesday, June 17.

“Fake news! The information did not come from the Mediamax company,” Kameme FM stated on its official X platform alongside the flagged notice.
The fictitious notice implied that compliance issues were a contributing factor in the purported shutdown by citing a show-cause letter from the Media Council of Kenya.
It added that the closure was intended to allow for internal reorganisation and compliance-related training.

Additionally, the notice went on to suggest that other Mediamax outlets, including radio stations Milele, Msenangu, Mayian, Meru and Emoo, as well as K24 Digital and People Daily, would also be affected.
Kameme FM has urged members of the public and its audience to disregard the notice in its entirety.
The staple radio station maintained that its operations will remain normal despite the circulating claims.
Listeners, customers and advertisers who were expecting the inconvenience have been assured that services will not be disrupted.
Kameme FM reiterated that official communications are only shared through its official and verified channels.
The incident adds to the influx of fraudulent communications targeting sections of the public, especially raising concerns for those who rely on social media for information from official institutions.
