“Hivi Viti Vyote Ni Vyenu!” – Sifuna Tells Kenyans After ODM Positions Purge
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has stated that political positions are ultimately granted by Kenyans, not party leaders, amidst uncertainty about his future in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Sifuna denied claims that losing party seats would be the end of his political career, stating that people have the final word.
He was speaking at the burial of Eric Juma Wamboka, the brother of Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, in Siboti Ward, Bumula Constituency, Bungoma County.
“Hao wananchi ndio wenye kupeana titles zote. Hata mimi kule ODM wanafikiria wakininyang’anya Katibu Mkuu, wakifikiria wakinitoa kama Naibu Kiranja wa Chama ama wale walio wachache pale Senate, wanafikiria hamtanirudishia,” Sifuna said.

“Nyinyi ndio wenye kupeana. Sai ndio naskia mnasema mnataka kunipa kiti ingine. Mumeamua? Mimi nawaamini kwa sababu hiyo viti vyote ni nyinyi mnapeana.”
Sifuna reiterated that his trust is in the electorate, stating that any political office he occupies is determined by the people rather than internal party decisions.
Addressing the mourning, Sifuna reiterated the opposition’s criticisms of President William Ruto’s administration.

The Nairobi senator further accused the government of using excessive force against protesters, citing recent demonstrations in Nairobi during the second anniversary of Gen Z protests.
“Mimi ni Seneta wa Nairobi na wakati huu ni kilio mzima. Kule Mathare kuna wamama ambao watoto wao walichukuliwa wakati wa (Gen Z) protests,” he stated.
“Wakati wanaandamana kuuliza watoto wao wako wapi, wakapigwa risasi. Ruto is manufacturing victims faster than he can compensate them.”
