Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has also directed the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) to expedite investigations into all aspects of the violence.

These include identifying any operational gaps that may have contributed to the incident.

The incident comes at a time when political violence has been on the rise in the country, with hired goons attacking political rallies of those believed to be opponents to score political points.

However, the Interior Ministry has on several occasions warned the members of the political class, noting that nobody will be spared, despite their political affiliation.

The Ministry stated that everyone will be held accountable if found to sponsor violence.

At the same time, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has also warned that it would take devastating action.

This includes disqualifying politicians found to be causing or sponsoring violence from the 2027 elections.
