Police Raid In Kasarani Recover 200 Stolen Phones
Police in Nairobi’s Kasarani have discovered 200 suspected stolen cell phones.
This follows an intelligence-led operation targeting a suspected phone theft syndicate, as officials step up efforts to combat the city’s escalating wave of mobile phone theft.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), investigators from Kasarani Police Station raided an abandoned iron-sheet construction in Viken Thirty Village after receiving a credible tip-off.
According to the DCI, the recovered gadgets included 120 phones that were still intact and 80 that had already been dismantled.

Detectives from the Cybercrime and Digital Forensics Unit are set to examine the devices to establish ownership and gather evidence that could lead to those behind the operation.
Investigators believe the recovery is linked to a wider network involved in stealing mobile phones before selling or dismantling them for resale through illegal markets operating within and outside the country.
The latest operation comes amid growing public concern over increasing cases of phone snatching across Nairobi.
This has prompted the DCI to intensify intelligence-led crackdowns targeting criminal networks involved in the trade.
Earlier this year, detectives dismantled a mobile phone theft and black-market network operating across Nairobi and beyond Kenya’s borders.
This was after a multi-agency operation led to the arrest of seven suspects believed to be coordinating the theft and distribution of stolen devices.
