Willis Raburu, a former Citizen TV journalist, suffered minor injuries in a traffic accident while on the Linda Mwananchi campaign trail in Trans Nzoia County.

This becomes one of several people involved in accidents during the political tour.

Raburu recounted the incident in footage posted online on Saturday, July 25.

He claimed that he had been left behind by the main convoy and was travelling on a motorcycle when he was struck by a car, knocking him down.

Raburu stated that the driver did not stop following the crash, forcing him to get back on his feet and continue pursuing the truck despite minor injuries.

“Some random car hit me on the road. Campaign trails can be intense. I fell and got some bruises, but I’m okay nonetheless,” Raburu said.

“Nothing can stop a movement whose time has come! Caught up to the caravan, and we kept it 100 per cent.”

However, the former television anchor downplayed his injuries, describing them as minor bruises on his hands and feet, and insisted the incident would not slow down his campaign momentum.

He maintained that he was determined to reconnect with the rest of the team, noting that the emcee and the microphone crew were also trailing behind the main group.

“I was left behind by campaign cars. I am on a motorbike. I was hit by a car and fell. We are chasing the convoy,” Raburu recounted.

“The MC is behind with a microphone, but we will reach them. I suffered slight injuries, nothing much. Those are the rules of war.”

The incident comes amid a string of road accidents reported along the Linda Mwananchi campaign trails in recent weeks, raising fresh concerns over safety on the tour.

On the very same day, a high-speed Toyota Prado linked to a Linda Mwananchi aspirant rolled over along the Sibanga-Kitale road in Trans Nzoia County during a political tour.

Witnesses blamed overspeeding for the crash, revealing that at least four supporters had been clinging dangerously onto the vehicle’s sides before it overturned.

Several people were injured in the rollover, with three still in critical condition, though movement figure Abigael Gikonyo confirmed that there were no fatalities.

Senior leaders travelling in separate vehicles, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, escaped the chaos unhurt and continued with the day’s campaign activities.

These accidents follow a similar scare involving President William Ruto’s motorcade, whose escort vehicle crashed on Sunday, July 5, along the Embu-Meru Highway in Embu County.

The escort car collided with a lorry at Mutunduri as President Ruto headed to church, injuring several members of his security detail.
