Tourist Vehicle Involved In Grisly Accident, Several Injured In Nairobi
Several tourists were seriously injured on Friday, August 28, after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a road accident along Nairobi’s Southern Bypass.
The accident disrupted traffic on the busy bypass as members of the public rushed to the scene and launched rescue efforts to assist the injured tourists.
Images and videos shared online showed the tourist vehicle overturned on the side of the road near a trench, another showing several injured tourists lying inside the trench.
The injured individuals appeared to be foreigners, although their nationalities have not been officially confirmed.
Additionally, it is also unclear how many tourists were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Nearby residents who saw the accident rushed to the scene and began helping the injured as they awaited emergency responders, with the full extent of the injuries not yet officially confirmed.
The images of the crash widely shared on the internet showed the vehicle extensively damaged with a broken windscreen, mangled seats and deflated tyres.
The incident comes just days after a tourist helicopter crashed in Samburu on August 19, reportedly killing all seven people aboard, including six tourists and the pilot.
The two incidents have renewed attention on the safety of tourists travelling across the country, particularly as Kenya continues to attract visitors to its popular tourism destinations.

Meanwhile, the crash comes amid growing concerns over road safety along the Southern Bypass, which has witnessed several accidents in recent weeks.
Just two days ago, two people were killed following a grisly road accident along the Southern Bypass in Lang’ata.
The crash involved a trailer truck and a lorry, which were travelling in the same direction from Kikuyu.
Mugumuini Area Chief George Mukuria said the accident occurred after the speeding vehicles engaged in wrongful overtaking before smashing into each other from the sides.
Both drivers died on the spot, with their bodies remaining at the scene pending police processing before being transported to the mortuary.
The area has been identified as a notorious black spot, with authorities reporting that several lives have been lost in accidents along the busy corridor.
