Fresh Update On Dr Mutiso’s Murder As DCI Confirms Another Police Officer Arrested In Uganda
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested three additional suspects linked to the murder of Dr Victoria Mutiso, including a police officer.
In a statement on Sunday, August 30, the DCI said the police officer and one other suspect were arrested in Kampala, Uganda.
This follows a coordinated operation between the DCI and the Ugandan police.
With assistance from the Uganda Police Force, detectives arrested the Police Constable Bett Kiplangat Collins, attached to Thogoto Police Station, and a civilian suspect.
“Acting on forensic analysis, the team proceeded to Kyanja Heights flats in the Nakawa suburb of Kampala,” DCI stated.
“With the assistance of the Uganda Police Force, they arrested two suspects who had illegally sneaked into Uganda after the murder.”
According to the detectives, the police officer had flown from Kenya, and his whereabouts remained unknown as police intensified investigations to apprehend him.
The two suspects are being held at Jinja Road Police Station in Kampala pending their escorted return to Kenya.
According to investigators, PC Bett allegedly played a surveillance role in the operation and served as co-driver to Daniel Mwangi Njoroge, whom the DCI has described as a central organiser of the alleged operation.
“Investigations have established that PC Bett was tasked with surveillance and served as co-driver to Daniel Mwangi Njoroge, a central organiser of the operation and driver of the Land Cruiser Prado registration KDH 600A,” DCI added.
The DCI further alleges that the suspect arrested with the police constable acted as a key link between the alleged execution team and the person who contracted them.
He served as a paymaster, moving money to facilitate logistics and the movement of the alleged hit team.
In a separate operation in Nairobi, detectives intercepted another suspect in the Langata Multi-Media area as he headed towards Ongata Rongai.
The latest arrests bring new focus to the alleged planning, coordination and financing behind Dr Mutiso’s killing, with detectives continuing to pursue other leads in the investigation.

DCI dismissed claims that suspects had previously been arrested and quietly released or that security officials had facilitated their escape.
The latest arrest adds to the number of police officers arrested in connection with the murder of two, after another officer, identified as the primary suspect who fired the fatal shots, was apprehended and arraigned in court.
Dr Victoria Mutiso, a prominent clinical psychologist, was killed in Nairobi on July 29.
His was after her taxi was ambushed at a road junction by armed attackers on a motorcycle and in a vehicle; a gunman opened fire, and she died shortly after at the hospital.
Investigators linked the killing to a long-running land dispute, allegedly orchestrated by relatives of her husband who hired hitmen.
They included police officers using service firearms who were paid a partial sum before the fatal attack.
