Nairobi Estates Hit By Power Blackout As Kenya Power Reveals Cause
Several parts of Nairobi have been hit with power outages running overnight and Sunday morning, with residents reporting prolonged interruptions in electricity.
Residents from Kasarani, South C and Lang’ata are among the areas that reported the outage, seeking Kenya Power’s response on what might have been the cause.
According to the residents, they were experiencing power interruptions despite Nairobi not being part of Saturday’s Kenya Power electricity daily maintenance.
In response, Kenya Power attributed the interruption to a fault on the main lines, saying its teams were working to restore electricity.
“Your area is experiencing an outage caused by a fault on the main line,” Kenya Power responded.
“Our technical team is attending to it, and we’re committed to restoring supply as soon as possible.”
The utility company urged affected customers to remain patient as technicians work to address the faults and restore electricity.
The power company had announced Sunday electricity disruptions in parts of Kisumu City, Uasin Gishu County, and Nakuru County.

In Nairobi, Kenya Power announced power maintenance along Likoni Road, affecting businesses and households in the area, with no notice of the widespread disruptions as reported.
Although some parts of Nairobi, including Westlands and Lavington, remained with power, other areas remained in the dark, suggesting that not all main lines in the city were affected.
The latest outages come nearly a month after the country was faced with a nationwide blackout that lasted for about five hours.
The power outage had escalated heavily around 9 pm on Wednesday, July 29, plunging Nairobi, the Coast region, Mt. Kenya, and most parts of the Rift into darkness.
Kenya Power later attributed the nationwide blackout to a technical disturbance in the national grid.
