NAIROBI CITY MARATHON: Winners, Prospects As Magut And Cherotich Steal The Show
In a thrilling display of athleticism and determination, Eliud Magut won the Nairobi City Marathon in a remarkable time of 2:09: 47 on Sunday.
Magut’s performance in the men’s 42 km race demonstrated his rigorous training and sheer grit as he navigated the demanding course through Nairobi’s Expressway.

His strategic pacing and explosive finish propelled him past his competitors, Josphat Bett and Emmanuel Sikuku, who ran 2:10:01 and 2:20:05, respectively.
Cynthia Jerotich stole the show in the women’s 42-kilometer race, finishing in two hours and 28.2 seconds.
Jerotich’s relentless pace and tactical brilliance carried her to a commanding victory, securing the women’s title.
She outpaced a strong field of competitors, with Lilian Chebii (2:28:29) and Peris Jerono (2:30:44) finishing second and third, respectively.
Magut and Jerotich’s victories not only demonstrated their individual abilities but also contributed to Kenya’s rich legacy of distance running.

Robert Kiprop (1:00:56) and Marion Kibor (1:08:55) won the Half Marathon for men and women, respectively.
Kiprop was followed by Wilson Too and Timothy Samanayo in second and third place, with Kibor ahead of Gladys Chepkurui and Sharon Kiptugen.
Amos Kipkemoi won the 10km race in 29 minutes and 4 seconds, while Edna Kibiwot won the women’s race with a time of 33:26.
Kipkemoi beat Filex Kibet and Gideon Kipngetich, while Fridah Ndinda and Vivian Cherotich finished second and third behind Kibiwot, respectively.
Originally scheduled for July 7, the race attracted over 15,000 participants, up more than 2,000 from last year, with the main race beginning at 6.45 a.m. at Nyayo National Stadium.

The top three finishers in the 42-kilometer race earned Sh3.5 million, Sh2.25 million, and Sh1.5 million, respectively.
The top six runners in the 21km races were awarded between Sh150,000 and Sh20,000, while the top six runners in the 10km category received between Sh100,000 and Sh7,500.
National leaders who attended the event included Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, his PS Eng. Peter Tum, and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot.
