However, an unexpected turn of events occurred when they approached the Utalii building on Uhuru Highway, a few metres from the roundabout, and were stopped by a white saloon vehicle.
Two occupants exited the vehicle and held the duo at gunpoint, threatening to pull the trigger if they did not comply.
One of the individuals snatched Shire’s bag and returned to the vehicle before fleeing.
“The reportee and the rider tried to give a chase to the vehicle but to no avail,” read part of the police report.
Moments later, the businessman reported the incident to the Central Police Station, where officers investigated and documented the scene.
While reporting the incident, the businessman admitted that he failed to record the saloon car’s registration number.
The officers have since launched investigations to track down the saloon vehicle, recover the cash, and apprehend the two suspects.
