Robber Attempts To Steal Gun From Female Bank Guard, Mob Neutralises Him
On Monday, September 9, a Nakuru-based man was confronted by an angry mob after attempting to steal a firearm from a female bank guard.
According to a police report, the incident began when the man approached Officer Dakwin Kipsoo, who was on bank guard duty and asked for directions to a building in Naivasha.
Shortly after, the stranger is said to have grabbed the officer’s AK47 rifle by the muzzle and wrestled her with the intention of taking her firearm.
A fight erupted outside the bank, drawing the attention of nearby passengers.
Police Constable Ambrose Kipruto, who was also on guard duty inside the bank, witnessed the altercation and rushed outside to assist his colleague.
When the stranger realized he couldn’t grab the firearm, he attempted to flee to Nakuru’s Central Business District.
His efforts were thwarted, however, when officers and members of the public cornered him.
Irate over the incident, the mob descended on the suspect and rained down heavy blows on him. Moments later, the officers were able to restore order and rescue the suspect from the mob.
“He was arrested and escorted to Naivasha Police station while appearing physically injured by the mob,” the report read in part.
Officers on duty, as well as Crime Scene and Investigations (CSI) personnel from the Naivasha Police Station, visited the scene to process and document.
