Senator Omtatah Appoints Hanifa Among 10-Member Committee For 2027 Presidential Bid
Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has formed a 10-member committee, including activist Hanifa Adan, to investigate his potential candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.
In a Gazette Notice dated Friday, November 22, the Senator declared that the Presidential Exploratory Committee will analyze the viability of his presidential campaign in the next general elections.
Hanifa Adan will be the Committee’s Public Relations/Media Consultant, responsible for managing public relations and coordinating with the media.
Adan, an activist and journalist, was at the center of the Generation Z protests in June and July. She spearheaded an attempt to raise donations for victims of police abuse who were injured during protests.

Mary Kathomi Riungu will head the Committee, with responsibility for managing its work and ensuring that results are delivered on time. Charles Ole Kabaiku will be her deputy.
David John Bwakali has been selected as the Political and Grassroots Strategist. His principal responsibility will be to provide perspectives on political trends, electoral dynamics, and strategic options.
Victor Kipng’etich will serve as the Committee’s Legal Advisor, ensuring conformity with electoral rules and providing legal assistance on a variety of issues.
Jude Ogulla will be the Analytical Lead, overseeing opinion polls, surveys, and data analysis to determine political viability and public mood.
Purity Ndambuki and Emmanuel Baraka will serve as Joint Secretaries, overseeing the Committee’s operations and ensuring its success.

Kevin Migwe Kimwatu will be the Committee’s spokesperson, with Engineer Julius Okara serving as its patron.

The Committee will be in office for a maximum of 18 months beginning November 22, 2024.
It will be abolished shortly after Omtatah makes a formal announcement of his candidacy or decides not to run.
Following the dissolution, all activities, assets, and documents will be handed to the relevant campaign or political entity as directed by Omtatah.
During an X-space talk in July, the Senator hinted at a possible presidential run, indicating that his decision would be driven by public opinion rather than personal interests.
