Akoko Billionaire’s Murder Suspect Arrested By DCI Detectives

On Monday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested the key suspect in the murder of Kirinyaga University student Sospeter Osunga, also known as ‘Akoko the Billionaire’, who was slain on November 18.

Following rigorous investigations, three people were initially arrested and supplied critical information to the ongoing inquiry into Osunga’s killing.

The main suspect, Brian Otieno Maurice, was apprehended based on intelligence leads and will be charged in court on Monday, December 9.

“Investigations have revealed that on the fateful day, Osunga was fatally attacked by a gang of hoodlums in the Ayani area. He sustained fatal wounds on his back, believed to have been caused by a sharp object,” the DCI stated

The unfortunate occurrence took place following a disagreement between his entourage and unruly bodaboda motorcyclists.

The fourth-year student’s death was announced on Tuesday, November 19, with rumors indicating that he was repeatedly hacked by a crowd.

According to accounts, Akoko, a Siaya County resident, responded to an invitation from a friend in Kibera and came into the slums with a man and a woman.

It is claimed that Akoko volunteered to pay for drinks for all attendees at the slum’s place before moving on to a different club where a prominent Ohangla artist was performing.

Everything went out of control at the club. A scuffle broke out between Akoko’s group and some boda boda riders enraged by what the Kirinyaga University student stated.

Akoko lived large, often displaying his opulent lifestyle and publicizing leisure activities such as nights out and road trips on social media.

His death occurred just two months after Dennis Oduor Otieno, alias “Denno Bright,” another Kirinyaga University student, was discovered dead in a Mombasa residence after allegedly fainting after an adventurous night out.
