‘They Will Promote Understanding!’ – Ruto On Nominating Uhuru’s Allies
President William Ruto has defended his recent choice to select former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s friends for key government positions.
During a church ceremony at AIC Kipkorgot in Uasin Gishu County, President Ruto emphasized that the nominations were intended to strengthen Kenyan unity and propel the country’s development program.
Ruto expressed confidence in his appointees, emphasizing that they will play an important role in assisting the government in addressing major challenges impacting Kenyans.

“The other day, I broadened the government further by bringing in some new people so that we can promote unity and understanding, and ensure that our focus is not solely political but geared towards transformation,” Ruto stated.
“This is so that we can understand how we can executive some of the government ambitions including giving employment to Kenyans and ensuring a high quality of life for our citizens,” he added.
The Head of State went on to attack Kenyans who criticized government programs, claiming that the government had already delivered on some of its pledges.
President Ruto’s statement comes just a week after announcing a slew of changes in his administration, including changes to his cabinet.
Mutahi Kagwe, Lee Kinyanjui, and William Kabogo were nominated for cabinet seats by the president in a press statement on December 20.

The three were nominated as cabinet secretaries for Agriculture, Trade, and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) respectively.

Kipchumba Murkomen, former Sports CS, has been named as cabinet secretary in charge of Interior and Coordination.
Salim Mvurya, former Trade Cabinet Secretary, has been nominated as CS for Sports, while Ndiritu Muriithi has been appointed chairwoman of the Kenya Revenue Authority.
The nominations came a week after Ruto and Uhuru had an unexpected meeting at the latter’s house in Ichaweri, Kiambu County, to address national issues.
Kenyans were taken aback by the two’s closed-door meeting, which fueled rumors about a possible political reunion following a year of rupture.
