Protests Rock Embu Town As Business People, Residents Demand Billy Mwangi’s Release
On Friday, residents of Embu town flocked to the streets to protest Billy Mwangi’s abduction on Saturday, December 21, where the 24-year-old was forced to leave a barbershop in Embu.
On Friday, villagers in Embu town set fires and blocked roads to demand the release of Mwangi, who has been missing for six days.

Mwangi’s family claims he was forcibly removed from a barbershop by four armed men wearing masks who drove away in a double cabin pick-up truck towards the Embu-Nairobi Highway.
Since Saturday, the family has performed searches throughout the area without success.

They say they’re still unsure what led to his kidnapping, despite rumors that he posted a post on X with an AI-generated image.
The sight of President Ruto in a casket could have been the reason he was targeted for abduction.

Mwangi is one of seven young people abducted this month after making inflammatory social media statements about President William Ruto and his government.
Steve Kavingo Mbisi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, Rony Kiplang’at, and Gideon Kibet, also known as Kibet Bull, were abducted in December, increasing the total number of abductions since June to 82.
According to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), 29 persons remain missing in the reported cases.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service (NPS) have denied any participation in the abductions.
