Senator Omtatah Goes Live From Police Custody While Reuben Kigame Arrested In Eldoret
Busia Senator Okiyah Omtatah has been transported to Nairobi’s Central Police Station, along with other ‘EndAbduction’ demonstrators, for processing.
Following their detention, Omtatah went live on X while in the cell to show their present situation. The demonstrators were escorted inside a room at the Central Police Station where they performed a freedom hymn.

Tensions flared as police sought to remove one of the demonstrators from the gathering.
The remaining demonstrators held their ground, blocking the officers and declaring, “Hakuna mwenye anachukuliwa” (No one will be carried away).
Omtatah, a lawmaker and activist, accused police of violating the law by arresting them while practicing their democratic rights.

“Hamuwezi dhulumu Katiba halafu museme muko kazi. We cannot cooperate with anybody,” he stated.
The protester then warned his fellow demonstrators, “Do not share your national identity numbers if they isolate you for questioning.”
The gathering continued to chant “tekeleza katiba” (apply the constitution) before performing the national anthem.

The senator had joined Kenyans on the streets of Nairobi’s central business district, demanding the release of kidnapped Kenyan youngsters.
Omtatah had previously filed a petition in the High Court, requesting that Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin, and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga present the missing Kenyans in court.

Omtatah petitioned Kibera High Court for a habeas corpus injunction compelling the Respondents to deliver the remains of Gideon Kibet, Ronny Kiplagat, Steve Kavingo Mbisi, Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, and Kelvin Muthoni.
Former presidential candidate Reuben Kigame was arrested in Eldoret after attempting to lead anti-government protests. He was released shortly afterward.

Activists in Mombasa organized similar protests, calling for immediate action to address the escalating number of forced disappearances.
The organizers, however, called off the protest after speaking with police, who assured them that no abductions had occurred in the coastal city.
