Gachagua Finally Reveals The Real Cause For His Impeachment
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has spoken out about the basis for his unusual impeachment, which saw Kithure Kindiki succeed him.
Speaking on Sunday, January 5, at the Tetu Catholic Church, Gachagua confessed that his tendency to speak the truth and confront the president about lying to Kenyans cost him his job.
“In the first year, I thought we were speaking from the same page until I realised it was all lies,” Gachagua opened up.
“We come to Ruring’u and promise we will complete the stadium, it is now two years, and nothing has been done. There are no roads, no water, no medicine in the hospitals, and our job is lying to Kenyans daily.”

According to Gachagua, he advised the president about making promises and then failing to keep them, which was the final nail in the coffin that cemented his impeachment proposal.
“I warned my boss that we should stop lying to Kenyans. That’s when the plan to push me out began for saying the truth,” the former DP revealed.
On October 1, 2024, Kibwezi West MP Eckomas Mwengi Mutuse submitted an impeachment motion against Gachagua, accusing him of eleven offenses.
They included weakening the authority of the President and Cabinet, preventing the national government from carrying out its mandate.
He was also accused of corruption, insubordination, money laundering, excessive misconduct, and constitutional infractions, among other things. The measure passed in the National Assembly with 282 MPs voting in favour.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gachagua praised the Catholic bishop for refusing to remain silent, expressing the truth, and standing up for what is right.
The Catholic Bishops have been outspoken critics of Kenya’s Kwanza government.

“We thank our Bishops for speaking for the people of Kenya. When everybody has been silent, the church remains the conscience of the nation, and I’d like to encourage you to continue speaking,” the former DP stated.
Since his dismissal from the administration, Gachagua has begun to criticize it, demanding accountability for serious issues impacting Kenyans, including cases of abduction.
A huge schism has emerged between him and Kenya Kwanza government allies, with National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah accusing Gachagua of being responsible for the rising number of forced disappearances.
“Gachagua was the orchestrator of abductions so that he could blame President Ruto,” Ichung’wah alleged. Allegations that Gachagua rubbished.
