Mudavadi In Trouble As ANC Party Members Accuse Him Of Betrayal

Members of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) have threatened to leave the party, accusing their leader of treachery.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, January 21, party members criticized Mudavadi for reportedly enabling the ANC to unite with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) without adequate consultation.

The disappointed members expressed their displeasure with Mudavadi’s controversial decision and stated that they would stop supporting him until he reversed his decision.

“We note that the top leadership of the party has allowed itself and the party to be swallowed up by our competitors. At first, we thought we were united in a public mission, but this was not the case,” the party members remarked.

“Our brothers and sisters have allowed our party to be swallowed up without even the basic courtesy of consulting us. While we do not know where and why they have gone, we wish them well.”

While questioning the former Vice President’s motivations, they accused him of prioritizing self-interest over rebuilding optimism for the Luhya population.

According to them, Mudavadi was no longer fit to represent Luhyas, and his ambition to become the country’s next president had been thwarted by his decision.

“Musalia, you have betrayed us, and you are one of the leaders we believed would one day become president. Your only work has been to shift parties and use us for your own benefit,” remarked a party member.

The new development comes just four days after Mudavadi’s ANC merged with Ruto’s UDA.

In a statement issued on Friday, January 17, UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire stated that the changes will effect in-house party festivities.

The Embu Governor further stated that the action was intended to create an inclusive and democratic party based on shared and common political ideas.

During the briefing, the UDA National Executive Committee (NEC) appointed Issa Timamy, the former ANC Party Leader, as its Deputy Party Leader, and Omboko Milemba as the party’s Deputy Secretary General.

Governor Mbarire went on to say that the UDA has included ANC identification symbols in the united party’s new logo, graphics, typography, and branding.
