How to Apply for a Tourist Visa To The United Kingdom(UK)

If you require a Standard Visitor visa, you must apply online before traveling to the UK and then make an appointment at a visa application center.

You can apply as early as three months before you visit. You must meet the eligibility conditions and participate only in allowed activities.

Depending on your nationality, you may not require a visa to visit the UK. Before applying, you can check to see if a visa is required.

Visa Fees

You can apply for a Standard Visitor visa, or if you visit the UK frequently, you can apply for a Long-Term Standard Visitor visa instead.

Apply online.

Once you’ve begun your application, you can save it and finish it later.

If you are applying with family members, everybody must complete their own application and pay the fee. They must schedule their own appointment at a visa application center.

If your partner or child is unable to apply on their own, you may do so on their behalf.

The application

If you hold the right of abode in the UK, your application will be denied, and you will not receive a refund. Instead, apply for a certificate of entitlement.

Application Advantage

If you saved your application, you may sign back in.

Long-term Standard Visitor Visas

If you visit the United Kingdom on a regular basis, you can apply for a long-term standard visitor visa.

This visa is valid for two, five, or ten years. You can stay for up to 6 months per visit.

If you are under 18 years old when you apply, your long-term Standard Visitor visa will only be valid for 6 months after you turn 18. You cannot receive a refund for the fee.

If UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) believes you do not match the eligibility conditions for the term of the visa you asked for, you may be granted a shorter visa than requested.

If you are granted a shorter visa or your application is denied, you will not receive a refund of the application money.

If your travel history demonstrates that you have lived in the UK for extended periods of time on many occasions, your visa may be terminated.

Documentation and information are required.

You must have a passport or travel document valid for the duration of your stay in the UK. Standard Visitor visas require a blank page in your passport.

You must include the following information in your online application:

I) The dates you intend to travel to the UK.

II) Where you will stay throughout your visit.

III) How much you expect your trip to cost.

IV) Tell us your present address and how long you’ve been there.

V) Your parents’ names and birth dates (if known).

VI) Annual income (if applicable) and criminal, civil, or immigration history.

Depending on your circumstances, you may need to provide:

3) Provide your partner’s name, date of birth, and passport number. 4) Include the name and address of anyone paying for the trip.

5) The names, addresses, and passport numbers of any family members you have in the UK.

If you’re visiting the UK, you’ll need to present these supplementary documents:

I) To study.

II) As an academic.

III) For specific paid engagements or events (a ‘permitted paid engagement’).

IV. For medical reasons.

Any non-English or Welsh documents must be certified translated.

Proving your identification and submitting your papers

As part of your online application, you must schedule an appointment at a visa application centre.

Allow enough time to arrive for your appointment, as the visa application center may be located in another nation.

What Is Required During Appointment

I) Present your passport or travel document as proof of identity.

II) Have your fingerprints and photograph taken (referred to as ‘biometric information’).

III) Provide the necessary documents demonstrating your eligibility for a Standard Visitor visa.

Your passport and documentation may be kept at the visa application center while your application is being processed.

How long it takes to receive a decision?

Once you’ve applied online, verified your identification, and submitted your documents, you should receive a visa decision within three weeks.

You will receive an email or letter with the decision on your application. This will explain what you need to do next.

Application Cancellation

If you need to amend anything in your application after you’ve submitted it, contact UKVI.

You have the option to cancel your application. Your fee will only be reimbursed if the application has not yet been processed.
