Don’t Go Into That Direction – Governor Kihika Pleads With Ruto And Gachagua

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has pleaded with President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, to resolve their reported feud.

Kihika, speaking at the Akorino Annual Conference in Nakuru, warned that the Kenya Kwanza administration would not fulfill its election promises if the two leaders were at odds.

“Your Excellences, I ask you not to go the direction that I am seeing things are going. If that happens, we shall not be able to deliver to the people of Kenya, whose hopes and aspirations are with us,” she pleaded.

Ruto and Rigathi were in attendance.

The Nakuru governor insisted that as long as leaders are fighting, the administration cannot focus on serving the people.

“In a very humble way, let me ask you to lead us from the front, lead us in a united way, bring Kenya together. As children in your house, we do not want divisions, we want a united country, people and only you can ensure it happens,” she said.

According to Kihika, Kenyans expect the government to provide water, roads, markets, hospitals, and schools.

“We want a smooth term, the three remaining years should be smooth for our President, our Deputy President and all elected leaders. Nakuru does not want a divided country because it will not be of any value to the people,” she insisted.

Experts warn that the schism between Ruto and his deputy may put the country in an electioneering mood.

In March, President William Ruto promised to ensure that his party has a female deputy president in the near future.

Speaking at the launch of the G7 Council Women Governors Caucus Strategy event at Safari Park, Ruto said he would sit down with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and agree that if the party fronts a man, the running mate must be a woman.

The President stated that this will ensure that his party leads from the front in supporting women, thereby helping to achieve the two-thirds gender rule.
