Ruto CS Declares Mandatory Customer Service Training For All Public Employees

Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced on Thursday, June 13, that all public servants must take a customer service course.

Moses Kuria was speaking at the Kenya School of Government to mark the launch of the Customer Service Excellence Training Framework.

Huduma Kenya will jointly offer the course with the Kenya School of Government.

According to CS Kuria, making the course compulsory would instill a culture of accountability as well as that of service excellence.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, who was also present, confirmed that the course will now be mandatory for all government employees.

Koskei stated that the training would improve service delivery and productivity in government institutions.

“The Customer Service Excellence Training Framework is a concrete step towards realising the vision of serving Kenyans with dignity and excellence,” Koskei echoed an earlier statement made by CS Kuria.

The event was also attended by Amos Gathecha, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Service, who praised Huduma Kenya for developing the framework.

“This launch has been a journey guided by the need to improve customer service in the Public Service sector,” PS Gathecha noted.

Other leaders who attended the course’s launch included Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Huduma Kenya, Mugambi Njeru, and Charles Nyachae, Chairperson of the Council of Kenya School of Government.

Huduma Kenya described the event as breaking down barriers to better service through the transformation of public service delivery.

CS Kuria did not say whether civil servants would have to pay for the course or what the consequences would be if they refused to attend.
