Ruto’s Chief Economic Advisor Announces 100% Support For Gen-Z Protests

On Sunday, June 23, President William Ruto’s chief economic advisor, David Ndii, had a change of heart and announced that he fully supports Gen Z protests.

Ndii had previously criticized the demonstrations, claiming that they were being led by the children of the wealthy, whose parents had previously plundered the country.

Ndii explained his change of heart, claiming that the youth were demanding accountability in a democratic system.

“We are with them 100 percent. They do not want the politics of kingpins and tribes. We are with them 100 percent,” he stated.

“They do not want to be used by demagogues and sore losers with axes to grind. We are with them 100 percent.”

Ndii also stated that, contrary to popular belief, he had no problem with the young people protesting.

He explained that the Gen Z protestors had received enough support from President William Ruto’s reformists.

Ndii noted that reformists in Kenya’s Kwanza administration were also outraged by their colleagues’ corruption, waste, and self-aggrandizement.

The economist also accused the police of using excessive force while engaging the protestors.

He stated that he had brought up the issue of demonstrators being brutalized by Ruto’s government.

Ndii, as chief economic advisor, is permitted to attend cabinet meetings led by Ruto.

“Democracy is a middle-class project, and there is or ought to be no issue as central to democratic accountability as public finances,” he added.

Ndii’s change of heart came at a time when Kenyans opposing the Finance Bill 2024 were planning nationwide protests against the proposed punitive taxes.
