Kenyan X Personality Vows To Go After Clergies Inviting Politicians To Church
Following the suspension of street protests, an influential figure on X has shifted his focus to Kenyan churches in an effort to rid them of leaders and politicians through a campaign known as #CleanTheAltar.
Mwambili Mwagodi, a Mombasa-based hotel expert, launched the campaign by texting or calling church pastors and bishops.
The X Influencer personally urges them to exclude Kenyan politicians, including the President, from their events.
Prior to the blitz, Mwagodi traveled to Nyahururu from Mombasa in an attempt to lead the Nyahururu Gen Zers in a protest against President William Ruto.
I have a million DMs like these that make my heart melt. I might not respond to them all but know that I appreciate you all for your words of affirmation.

President Ruto was addressing the faithful at the ACK Nyahururu Diocese Church in Nyahururu, Laikipia County, where Rev. Maj. Samson Mburu Gachathi was consecrated and enthroned as the Diocese’s third bishop.
Meanwhile, Mwambili led a group of young protesters outside the venue, chanting anti-Finance Bill 2024 slogans after being denied access to the church service.
Undeterred by the intimidating presence of the Anti-Terror Police Unit, Mwagodi charged forward, leading the protesters in fervent chants.
Determined, he caused a commotion outside the venue, even witnessing President Ruto flee the area hastily and without speaking to the residents.

Now, the hotelier-turned-activist has shifted his focus to online activism, gathering contacts belonging to various church leaders and directly warning them against entertaining politicians on their altars.
On Thursday night, he texted Reverend Simon Mutahi, warning him not to allow First Lady Racheal Ruto on his altar.
“I see you have invited Mrs. Rachel Ruto to your church for a fundraiser. First of all, the money is looted from the taxes I pay to this government of looters.
“The message is to notify you that we are coming for the fundraiser. God bless you”.
Not too long after, Rev. Mutahi replied, “Good Evening Mwabili. Thank you for reaching out. Please note that the First Lady will not be attending the fundraiser. You are welcome to worship with us. Blessed night.”
After further questioning, the man of God replied, “Please can you help me post the current position that the First Lady will (not) be attending? This was something planned long ago but has since changed.”
Satisfied with the response, Mwagodi took to his X account to announce the results of his activism, which received praise from thousands of Kenyans.
I was on phone with Bishop Lelei of Eldoret Diocese for 15 minutes. He categorically denies that Farouk Kibet and Oscar Sudi gifted him high end vehicles. The pic in the news report was him being picked with a congregation member's car, not a gift from Sudi. pic.twitter.com/ooluSmBslZ

“REVEREND MUTAHI has clarified that Mrs. Rachel Ruto will not be attending the Lavington United Church fundraiser for the new Sanctuary on Sunday, June 30. “Praise Jesus,” he wrote.
Soon after, he contacted Father William Kamau of Kaharati Catholic Church, who invited Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to a fundraiser on Sunday.
Mwagodi went on to reveal that Father Kamau told him that people like Rigathi Gachagua “have businesses where they get money to donate to the church.”
Unshaken, he has now set out to find the phone numbers of several other churches, including the Deliverance Church in Kaplong, ACK St. Faith Ongata Rongai, and Eldoret’s Bishop John Kiprono Lelei.
In response to criticism thrown at Mwagodi, one Kenyan defended his actions.
He said: “Mwabili is not going for the ‘harmless believers’. He is gunning for the lying thieving murdering politicians who flaunt & use their ill-gotten gains in church, in cahoots with the clergy, to sanitise their image. These are the wolves in sheep’s clothing that Christ warned you of.”
