Rift Valley Governor Confirms Rift Between President Ruto and Gachagua, Calls For Peace

Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok hosted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during his weekend visit to the Rift Valley county.

Speaking after a church service attended by the Deputy President, Barchok urged Rift Valley leaders and residents to avoid divisive politics, which were stifling the Kenya Kwanza government.

Barchok urged leaders to band together with President William Ruto to avoid jeopardizing his bid to retain the presidency in 2027.

The Bomet Governor explained that President Ruto’s backyard needed to unite because support would be critical in 2027.

“To our leaders, let’s not undermine our efforts and reduce William Ruto’s chances in 2027. Let’s communicate and persevere, as we need the support of others. As I mentioned in church, we must honour our agreement.”

“We delivered over 200,000 votes, and if we lose focus, it will be difficult for us. The people have confirmed their support for you and the president,” Barchok said amid cheers from an onlooking crowd.

The county boss praised Gachagua for standing by the president and supporting his leadership to ensure that the Kenya Kwanza administration fulfills its promises.

“Your Excellency, your visit here has shown that these are happy people who love you and the president,” the governor stated.

“On behalf of the people, we thank you for standing with the president, which is why we have Kenya Kwanza. Because of this, we will support you and President William Ruto.”

He asked the second-in-command to avoid listening to naysayers who were focused on listing the milestones they had achieved with his boss, confirming that there are challenges in every union that must be dealt with skillfully.

“Do not worry about empty talk from some people; the ground has endorsed you and William Ruto, and that is what matters,” the county boss explained.

“I urge everyone to support Rigathi Gachagua. Every house has issues, and we request that Rigathi Gachagua address any problems with William Ruto privately to keep us united as one people of Kenya.”

There has been widespread speculation that Ruto and Gachagua do not agree on governance issues, with each pulling to their own side.

A group of Rift Valley leaders has accused the Deputy President of inciting tribalism in order to advance his political agenda.
