DP Gachagua Criticises Top Officials Undermining President Ruto

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has singled out a group of leaders he claims are arrogant and are inciting public outrage against the government.

The DP told government leaders that it is their responsibility to assist President William Ruto in carrying out his programmes.

However, Gachagua claimed that some leaders are arrogant and annoy the masses, which is undermining the President.

Without naming names, the DP stated that some of the leaders have begun to look down on Kenyans, inciting anger toward the entire government.

“Don’t undermine the President and his government by antagonising Kenyans. Wengine wamekuwa na kiburi, wakifungua mdomo watu wanakasirika.”

“Na hawa watu ndio wanaharibia rais, wanaharibia serikali. Wako na kiburi mingi sana.”

Gachagua was speaking during a Sunday service at the PEFA Church in Kiamariga, Nyeri County.

He was joined by Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.

The DP stated that leaders who are satisfied should not vomit on hungry Kenyans.

He stated that the government can only succeed if leaders unite to support the President.

Gachagua stated that as an elected leader, he listens to the Kenyans who appointed him.

“I always associate myself with the feelings, views and aspirations of those who have elected me to office. I assist the President in all his work and I continuously listen to Kenyans so that I’m able to make the right decisions,” he said.

The DP urged leaders to always prioritize Kenyans in all that they do in order to make progress.

Gachagua has previously addressed arrogance among certain leaders.

On June 30, the DP warned Kenya Kwanza politicians against ”displaying opulence and arrogance” to Kenyans.

He told the leaders that they should respect Kenyans, whom he described as their employers.

“I have seen some people have got money and have become arrogant and forgotten where we came from was a difficult journey, this government was formed through prayers and will be sustained by prayers,” Gachagua said at Kaplong, Bomet county.

He said it was unfortunate that some Kenya Kwanza leaders had begun to show off and disrespect Kenyans who had worked hard to ensure Kenya Kwanza’s victory in the 2022 election.

“Let us stop chest thumbing, let us respect the people of Kenya, let’s address them with humility and respect,” Gachagua told the leaders.

“When we have eaten enough and our stomachs are full, let’s not vomit and throw out on Kenyans,” he warned.

President William Ruto addressed Kenyans on X Space on Friday, saying he had taken note of some leaders’ arrogance.

The President stated that he has called them on several occasions to warn them about their actions.

“I have a duty to mentor, they will make mistakes, they will exude some arrogance but partly it’s because of inexperience,” he stated.

He continued, “I sometimes want to take responsibility.”
