Marsabit Senator Mohammed Chute Has Been Arrested For Bribery

On Thursday, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested Marsabit Senator Mohammed Chute.

While confirming his arrest, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi revealed that the senator had been taken to the Commission’s headquarters in Nairobi for further interrogation.

The senator was arrested on charges of involvement in a multimillion-dollar bribery scheme within the Marsabit County Government, as well as a conflict of interest.

Following his arrest, the anti-graft commission promised to investigate the allegations against the senator and would provide more information in due course.

Chute was arrested just a day after accompanying President William Ruto to the commissioning of the Kimuka Sub-Station in Kajiado.

During his meeting with the Head of State, Chute praised the President for allocating Ksh1 billion for livestock restocking to pastoralists in Marsabit County.
