A Mediamax journalist was reportedly shot by unknown assailants while covering the ongoing anti-government protests in Nakuru.

Catherine Wanjeri was allegedly shot in the leg while filming protests in Nakuru’s Central Business District (CBD). She was with another journalist, who was also critically injured.

In a video by Africa Uncensored, the two journalists were seen wriggling on the ground and shouting for help.

Catherine, in particular, was seen holding onto her leg as she crawled on the ground in pain, blood stains on the upper part of the leg.

Following the incident, a rescue team quickly arrived on the scene and administered first aid to the journalist before transporting her to the hospital.

The journalist reportedly passed out while being lifted onto the motorcycle by fellow media personnel, who rushed her to Valley Hospital in Nakuru town.

Her alleged shooting occurred following increased demonstrations in Nakuru’s central business district, as police officers attempted to keep protesters from damaging critical infrastructure.

Police officers were seen pelting tear gas canisters at protesters who were determined to march through the streets to the governor’s office.

A similar scenario unfolded in several parts of the country as protesters took to the streets to oppose the government.

Running battles broke out in Nairobi between police officers and protesters as the cops attempted to disperse the anti-government demonstrators who had gathered in the CBD.

Protesters could be heard chanting anti-Ruto slogans as they marched through the city streets waving flags and twigs.

Protesters in most parts of the country expressed outrage over poor governance and demanded accountability.
