‘Talking Like He Owns Kenya’ – Martha Karua Slams Ruto’s Remarks On Gen Z Protests

NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua slammed President William Ruto on Sunday for his inappropriate remarks.

The President has vowed to crack down on criminal elements who have hijacked recent demonstrations to perpetuate anarchy in the country.

Karua, who took to her X account, continued her attack on the government, claiming that the Head of State was displaying unwarranted bravado in his public statements.

“Ruto talking like owns Kenya exclusively,” Karua stated.

Earlier in the day, after attending a church service in Chebango, Bomet County, President Ruto promised to do everything in his power to protect the nation and maintain law and order.

Ruto revealed that he had listened and acted on the various issues raised by Kenyans, and now it was time to move on and allow normalcy to be restored.

During his remarks, the Head of State urged those who disagree with his ideologies to join forces so that the issues at hand could be resolved amicably and democratically.

“Enough is enough, it cannot continue like this because the country is bigger than any group of people. We must stand together as a nation protect our nation and make sure that Kenya is a democracy.”

Earlier this week, President Ruto accused foreign players of funding protests in Kenya to cause anarchy.

The Head of State specifically warned the Ford Foundation, a New York-based non-governmental organization (NGO).

In a subsequent letter to the NGO, the Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary demanded that the organisation provide the government with a list of all the organisations it was funding in Kenya, as well as the nature of the activities they were carrying out.

In response, The Ford Foundation denied funding protests in Kenya and referred the government to its website, which lists all grant recipients.

This comes as the country prepares for another round of protests scheduled for Tuesday.

The #OccupyEverywhere protests, which have taken place over the last month, aim to demand accountability from the government.

Kenyan youth want the Kenya Kwanza administration to combat corruption and waste, appoint qualified people to key positions, and demonstrate better leadership on a larger scale.
