Governor Lusaka Responds To Gen Z’s Ksh148 Million Spent on Beautification Question

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka confirmed that the county has allocated Ksh25 million for Madaraka Day beautification projects.

In response to a petition presented by Bungoma youth seeking clarification on the county’s spending for the celebrations, the governor stated that the county spent Ksh148 million.

Madaraka Day celebrations took place on June 1, 2024, at Kanduyi’s Masinde Muliro Stadium.

The Governor added that the county spent Ksh25 million on urban beautification, which included flower planting.

According to the Governor, the flowers were planted on the Musikoma-Kanduyi road in Bungoma, near the Masinde Muliro Stadium.

Meanwhile, in the budget, the County paid Ksh18 million for billboards and signage.

On the other hand, the county’s education and vocational departments received Ksh1 million in budgetary allocations for the day.

Ksh24.8 million was allocated for road and civil works related to the celebrations.

Other notable budgetary expenditures included Ksh5 million for the preparation of the county handbook.

In addition, the county spent Ksh15.5 million on advertising and publicity for the event, with Ksh1.5 million allocated to digital advertising.

The majority of the advertising funds were allocated to media mobilisation, which received Ksh8 million, with the remainder going toward flier and flag printing.

The county spent Ksh60 million on completing Phase 1 of the Masinde Muliro Stadium in preparation for the event.
