Mombasa Residents Take To The Streets In Celebration Of Joho’s Nomination
Hundreds of Mombasa residents have taken to the streets to celebrate former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s nomination as Cabinet Secretary.
On Wednesday, President William Ruto released his final list of nominees for the position of CS.
Joho was appointed Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary, and Wycliffe Oparanya was named Cooperatives and MSME Development Cabinet Secretary.
Joho and Oparanya are members of the ODM party.
In Mombasa, where Joho has a devoted following, hundreds of residents gathered at Treasury Square to celebrate his appointment.

The residents marched down Nkurumah Road to the Fontannela Roundabout and back to Treasury Square, singing praises to Joho.
A group of Mombasa leaders is expected to address the residents in Treasury Square.
The opposition now appears to be in limbo after President William Ruto nominated four members to his Cabinet on Wednesday as part of his broad-based government strategy.

“Simba is back! Joho hoyee,” the residents chanted as they marched along the streets.
Only 24 hours before, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna cautioned his members against making themselves available for Cabinet appointments.
“Any ODM member who makes themselves available to join the Kenya Kwanza Cabinet or any other position should know that they do so without the blessing or support of the party,” Sifuna said.
