Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Killing Wife In Gilgil
Police officers in Gilgil’s Ndiu-Ini area are holding a murder suspect who was handed over to them by residents on Sunday after being accused of killing his wife in a domestic dispute.
According to witnesses, the man and the deceased woman had been living together for three years, despite numerous disagreements.
Moses Macharia, a neighbour and in-charge of ‘Nyumba Kumi’ in the area, said he was informed of the tragic turn of events by the suspect’s immediate neighbors.
He stated that this was not the first time the couple had gotten into a fight that required neighbours to step in.
“I know these people because I have come here before when they had fought, that time it was so bad because they had even brandished knives gainst each other,” Moses Macharia, a neighbour in charge of Nyumba Kumi in the area said.
Although the circumstances surrounding the tragic end of their troubled relationship are unknown, neighbours claim the deceased destroyed the suspect household items before setting them on fire.
“Wote walikuwa walevi mara nyingi walikuwa wanabugia pombe halafu wanakuja kupigania kwa Nyumba,” Macharia added.
According to Francis Irungu, another neighbour, the murder suspect, who is believed to have committed the crime on Saturday night, was still at their rented house on Sunday morning.
He was discovered by the decedent’s friend, who paid them a visit on Sunday morning, noticed something was wrong, and alerted the neighbours.
