FIVE Family Members Dead, Several Injured In A Multiple-Vehicle Accident In Bungoma
On Sunday morning, three vehicles, including an oil tanker, collided on the Eldoret-Malaba Highway, killing five people and injuring several others.
According to reports, the accident included a tractor, a Probox, and the oil tanker in question. Aside from the five passengers who died, two other travellers were seriously injured.
The two survivors have since been transferred to Eldoret Hospital for specialised medical care.
The accident happened at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning in the Murungi area, along a busy stretch.

According to police who arrived on the scene, the oil tanker was moving at a high speed, causing the driver to lose control, resulting in the tanker colliding with a tractor before ramming into an oncoming Probox.
The tragic incident killed five family members. According to reports, they were returning from a wedding in Busia.
Two others who were injured were able to jump out of the vehicle. The drivers of the oil tanker and tractor escaped without injury.
Julius Meli, the Lugari Sub County Police Commander, confirmed that the tractor driver and his passengers were unharmed, though the passengers fled the tractor.
“We have arrested the driver of the oil tanker and are pursuing the occupants of the tractor who are at large,” Meli added.
According to statistics from the National Traffic and Safety Authority (NTSA), approximately 3,000 people are killed in road accidents each year, with the majority of the accidents occurring on weekends.
