Outspoken ODM MP Trips And Falls When Meeting Ruto In Homa Bay

Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Atieno Bensuda tripped and fell after receiving President William Ruto in Oyugis on Thursday.

In a video obtained by AfricasNow, Ruto had just finished signing the visitor’s book at the Oyugis Water Project when Bensuda, one of the leaders standing next to the President, tripped and fell.

The President’s security team rushed to assist her before Ruto and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga joined in.

As the leaders approached an exhibition area, Bensuda and Wanga could be heard laughing about the fall.

Bensuda is then heard jokingly saying “Nimeanguka nayo”.

The leaders, including Ruto and Wanga, break into laughter as they walk away.

The phrase ‘Anguka nayo’ (drop with it) became popular following the anti-government protests.

While it began as a party song by the rap group Wadagliz, it has since evolved into the anthem of Kenyan online activism.

During the protests, it became a lyrical euphemism for what Kenyan youths were against.

Even after the protests have ended, the song continues to be played and is used by politicians when engaging young people.

Ruto is on day two of his four-day tour of the Nyanza region.

The tour began on Wednesday with a lengthy visit to Migori County, where the President unveiled several projects.

He also visited Kisumu County.
