Ruto’s CS Blasts Kalonzo For Claiming The Opposition Leadership, Approves Junet
Aden Duale, the Environment Cabinet Secretary, has chastised Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for recent claims that he is the opposition’s official leader.
Duale, speaking in Magunga, Homa Bay County, stated that the constitution only recognizes the Minority Leader in the National Assembly as the opposition’s leader.
His remarks supported Suna East MP Junet Mohamed’s remarks at the event, which stated that he, not Kalonzo, is the opposition leader.
Duale believes that any other person claiming to be the leader of the opposition from elsewhere is not the right person.
Just because Raila Odinga has gone to the AUC, you are 'Tanga Tanga' claiming to be the leader of the opposition, yet you have less than 20 MPs. No, Junet is the leader of the opposition constitutionally – Aden Duale. pic.twitter.com/tcrE2h8dOK

“Hon Junet, wacha nimsaidie. Katika Katiba ya Kenya, Article 108, msemaji wa serikali katika Bunge ni Kimani Ichung’wah. Msemaji na kiongozi wa opposition ni Junet Mohamed,” The CS said.
“If you are somewhere else unatangatanga unasema Baba ameenda AU wewe ndio kiongozi wa opposition na wabunge wako hawafiki ishirini hapana. Sasa ni kama 2008, Serikali na opposition wameungana ili Kenya iwe moja.”
Duale insisted that the current structure of President William Ruto’s administration is similar to the 2008 Grand Coalition Government.
He went on to say that the opposition and the government are working together in this case to help the country develop.
“Right now, it’s like 2008, the Government and the opposition have united to make Kenya one.”
Duale’s remarks came a few days after Kalonzo announced that he was the official leader of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, following Raila’s bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship.
Kalonzo, who convened a press conference on Wednesday to coincide with the State House launch of the bid, stated that Azimio will continue to operate after Raila’s departure.
“Yes, I am ready to be the leader of the official opposition. This is the team,” he said.
“You will see the opposition like never before. We may be light in numbers in Parliament but outside we have the people of Kenya.”
